I can’t begin to imagine being as left without protection as the people in Gaza are. The suffering regardless of who they are individually, it’s unthinkable. How can it be that we can’t even offer so much as a way out when people clearly are trapped with nowhere safe left to go?

Cover van ‘Dis Tout Sans Rien Dire’ van Daniel Bélanger uit Québec, Canada. Dit is een van de nummers op het fantastische album ‘Rêver mieux’ uit 2001. Die CD werd me destijds aangeraden in een platenzaak, ik denk in Montreal, met de woorden ‘Je loopt het risico dit mooi te vinden!’. En inderdaad, ik vond het direct een prachtplaat met onder andere dit mooi liedje.

Nieuw nummer ‘Nog Altijd Daar’
“De zachte gloed op jouw gezicht, het grasveld in het avondlicht. Ik ben nog altijd daar.”
Het idee voor dit nummer begon zich te ontwikkelen in de weken na een reünie van mijn middelbare school. Het brengt me terug naar de zomer van 1990, naar het sportveld met de tentjes in Breezand tijdens het bollenpellen. Het staat op mijn netvlies alsof het gisteren was, mooie herinneringen!

Da’s Wat Je Doet Met Mij
Dit moet welhaast mijn vrolijkste nummer zijn, genre kleinkunstpoprock wellicht? Ik schreef het met iemand anders als uitvoerend artiest in gedachten, dat heeft vast invloed gehad! Misschien volgt er nog eens een meer uitgewerkte studio-opname, maar voor nu voeg ik ‘m toe als ‘home studio performance’.

Een geslaagde CultuurNacht!
Wat was het leuk bij de CultuurNacht gisteravond in Theater de Speeldoos in Vught! Ik heb ervan genoten om op te treden in de foyer. Dank aan het team van de De Cultuurweek en alle anderen die een bijdrage hebben geleverd, waaronder ook NOVO3 voor de live uitzending. Op naar de volgende!
